Our Art Curriculum
Intent
At Arbourthorne our Art curriculum is designed the provide our children with the opportunity to develop and express their imagination and creativity through the interpretation of images, expressing feelings and ideas. Enabling all children to create transform materials into images and objects.
Through the curriculum children learn planning and visualisation; logical progression of designing; study the work of a verity of artists, craft people and designers from different periods and cultures.

Artist In Residence
As a school we are committed to providing high quality art experiences for our children which builds empathy, confidence and ingenuity. Our Artist in Residence supports us in delivering a range of projects with both families and children which promote high quality speaking and listening skills, and raise the standards in Literacy through engagement with the visual arts.
Our Artist in Residence supports our children in becoming experts in their own learning through exposure to a range of ‘intelligent’ materials and hands on explorations within the Artspace (our purpose planned arts area). Find out more about the work of our Artist, Jayne on her blog: https://www.arbourthorneprimary.co.uk/new-curriculum/subjects/art/artist-in-residence/artists-blog
