Visit to The Point, Doncaster
Children from Y5 and Y6 visited The Point in Doncaster to look at the paintings of our Artist in Residence, Jayne Cooper, whose solo exhibition, 'Broken Beautiful' is on display at the gallery until March 5th 2016. The children were amazed by the building and to find out that Jayne was actually a 'real artist' after all! They asked brilliant questions and made their own artworks in response to the themes in the exhibition. They especially enjoyed making collages of 'Gary'; a broken clown head that lives in a display case with other broken objects collected by the artist.
The children learnt how to scale up small objects into large charcoal drawings, and created a collaborative piece interlinking their ideas. In fact, the children were so amazing, The Point has offered them some wall space alongside Jayne's exhibition, which will feature some of the children's poems and artwork. The work will be on show on Saturday 27th February, 12-4pm.
A truly fantastic day out for everyone!
