Careers Education in Partnership
We support the early development of career pathways to ensure our children take the necessary steps to achieve their ambition.
In the words of Dr Ger Graus,
''Children can only aspire to what they know exists.''
We work hard to ensure all possibilities are explored from an early age. This motivates and inspires our children to think big, aim high and create their own destiny! The core values feature highly in all our conversations about future pathways.
We have been working with our long standing partner, Sheffield Girls' High and their Gold standard and Award winning careers team to gain our Primary Careers Mark. SHS students are delivering inspirational career talks to our students and hosted a careers fair. SHS alumni have visited Arbourthorne to inspire our pupils to aim high and be ambitious in their career choices. Dr Frances Yarlett delivered a talk on the work of the NHS, careers in medicine and provided CPR training to all Y6 pupils.
Y6 children spent time at a careers roadshow at Sheffield High School and accessed a range of careers talks. They are able to visit a variety of stalls, gather information and ask questions. Careers on offer have included the RAF, Fire Service, Nursing, Architecture, butchery, Virtual Reality, Cyber Safety, Medicine and Graphic Design.
We are proud that a number of our alumni have accessed higher education with our former students from 2015 now being set for careers in medicine and forensic psychology! We are very proud of what these students have achieved.
